The part-time Accounting Assistant will provide assistance and administrative support to the Managing Director of Financial Operations & Student Assistance and the Executive Director of Finance. Duties will include answering phones, handling inquiries, resolving discrepancies, assisting students with issues regarding billing and accounts receivable and payment plan processes and processing vendor transactions. Additional responsibilities include analyzing General Ledger Accounts, preparing daily cash summaries and journal entries, assisting with distribution and resolving 1098T annual tax return issues, distributing student payroll checks, sorting and distributing department mail and other duties as assigned.
Required: Associates degree with two years related work experience in multiple areas of general accounting. Candidate must possess a strong level of organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; must be driven to provide excellent customer service with ability to handle inquiries of diverse and multicultural students, staff, faculty and visitors with sensitivity and diplomacy; must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment doing multiple tasks and projects while attending to the immediate needs of members of the campus community; must be a detail oriented self-starter, ability to work independently with little to no supervision and as a team in a collaborative manner; must have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint); must have ability to exercise good judgment, as well as, ability to understand and follow established protocols.
