Library Assistant

Position Summary:

The Library Assistant will be responsible for assisting patrons at the circulation desk at Meadowlands and/or Paramus locations. Will also be trained to provide back-up services for the Media desk.

The successful hire will check library materials in and out, explain library policies and procedures; assist with catalog and Internet searches; perform stacks and collection maintenance, monitor and complete shelving and shelf reading; assist faculty and students in the use of computer/media equipment and materials; other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Required: Associate’s degree or equivalent; one year library experience required; experience using a multi-faceted integrated library system or equivalent.

Must have excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills; have an ability to work well within a team as well as work independently; demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite programs; basic computer trouble-shooting skills; be able to work at the Paramus and Meadowlands locations.
